It’s theater, but Glaive is a method actor, and he’s proven that every moment of his angst-over friends, crushes, reputation-merits singing about. His words brim with striking passion and nostalgia for someone too young to join Tinder. Or, take the intro of “ Pissed”: “I’m so pissed, I'm angry as fuck / I wanna kill myself, but you're calling my bluff.” Already, we have a lot to unpack. On the opening lines of “ Astrid”, the artist delivers a one-two punch of narcissism and charm: “Yeah, you look so pretty in that dress, but I look better”. Refreshingly, Glaive doesn’t strain to come across as likable, and has an apparent self-awareness about it. Lyrically, Glaive is adorable-and by no means should that invalidate the very real feelings of a teenager. The music sits at the crossroads of emo rap, cloud rap, trap, (hyper)pop and R&B. With songs that seldom exceed the two-minute mark, Glaive serves up delicious pop nuggets with the hugest hooks of the year. Especially impressive about Glaive is the quality he grants his quantity. It’s wonderful to watch their musical journey in almost real-time, who can, with enough Red Bull, write, record and release a track in a single day.

Following in the footsteps of collectives like BROCKHAMPTON, Drain Gang and PC Music, these zoomers thrive in the era of digital lockdown collaboration. Glaive is a member of the slowsilver03 collective, part of a highly supportive, highly prolific generation of lo-fi hip-hop makers. It catches you with a heavy hitting beat while the lyrics write & Im an asshole, two face, I been steady tripping over my own shoelace &. Back in those unsigned days, Glaive released a formidable string of singles, the best of which can be found on Spotify. If you’d gotten to Glaive between the beginning and end of his independent recording career, March and October of 2020, maybe you could have signed the young rapper, but too late! Interscope Records got him first.

We have just started creating the guides for Monster Hunter RiseIn a few more days, you will be able to read the full article. The only thing i can see glaive improving on is his song structure, a few cuts here feel like they hit their climaxes too early and could be given a bit more time to develop into fully fledged songs - i'm not sure if there are any bridges at all and it could use some, but this is just a nitpick and doesn't really detract from the record at all. Our Monster Hunter Rise: Hunting Horn Guide is the best source of information for the Hunting Horn weapon of the game. Ive been steady tripping over my own shoelace. And you could say that it’s different you’re still dead to me. And Ive been wasting serotonin, but, hey, at least it is free. And I’ve been taking melatonin to catch me some sleep. all 7 tracks have been stuck in my head for hours at some point Ive been losing rest, Ive been counting my sheep. i can't sing enough praise about how catchy this whole thing is. it's the fast pace of the production that keeps you hooked and interested, there are so many intricate little touches here and although there's a different producer on every song here, the EP feels cohesive and personal, even.Īnd GOD, this guy can write a hook. It's also easy to love, with the erratic hyperpop tendencies of songs like astrid and pissed, and the almost midwest-y noodles of touché and aforementioned astrid (my personal favourite here). it's simple - there's nothing past the surface level, glaive wears his heart on his sleeve with very clear and obvious Ben Folds-as-a-zoomer-esque lyrics, and Juice WRLD levels of whiny vocal delivery. Prolly my favorite song from this album Comment by h3xrt To scared to open up but i think thats just the man in me Comment by Tarzan Superfly And im an asshole, two faced Comment by IHATEJAYY!%
